Two officers held on charge of taking bribes in Dailekh

KATHMANDU, July 1: Two officers of the Water Supply and Sanitation Division Office in Dailekh have been arrested in charge of taking bribes from service seekers.

KATHMANDU, July 1: Two officers of the Water Supply and Sanitation Division Office in Dailekh have been arrested in charge of taking bribes from service seekers. 


Engineer Topendra Sundar Malla and sub-engineer Birendra Chand from Bhagwatimaai Rural Municipality were arrested by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) team for asking bribes with their service seekers.

“The CIAA office in Surkhet had conducted an investigation on the basis of the complaints accusing them of taking bribes. They were arrested from their office on Wednesday morning,” said Pradip Kumar Koirala, the spokesperson for the CIAA. 


According to Koirala, the investigation team found a total of Rs. 2,41,000 from Malla’s local residence. “The source of the money found in Malla’s residence is under investigation,” he said. 


Two other officers from the office, sub-engineer Ranjit Shrestha and supervisor Laxmi Pandey have also been taken under custody for further investigations.
