KATHMANDU, Oct 11: Claims and protest against candidates enlisted in the published closed list under the proportional representation (PR) system of the election to the House of Representatives and provincial assemblies can be made until October 15.
The Election Commission permitted time from Sunday to file applications of claim and protest regarding the qualification and disqualification of the candidates incorporated in the amended list submitted by different political parties.
EC Secretary and Chief Election Officer for the PR system, Gokarna Mani Dawadi, said the EC would publish the final name list of candidates on October 26 by carrying out investigations into the claim and protest.
Any political party should mandatorily get three percent votes of the total valid votes to get PR seats in HoR and 1.5 percent in provincial assembly election. "There is a constitutional provision that there should be 33 percent representation of women in parliament. So, the representation of women representatives should be made 33 percent even after fulfilling it from the PR system if it was not met through first-past-the-post election system," Dawadi shared.
