Deceased have been identified as Sobha Pokhrel, 30, of Lalbandhi, Sarlahi, Dharmaraj Pokhrel, 5, and Jokhani Subedhi, 45. Sobha and Jokhani died on the spot. [break]
Dharmaraj died at Bharatpur Hospital while undergoing treatment.
The injured, Priti Pokharel, 30 of Lalbandhi, Deepal Pokhrel, 11, Deshab Pokhrel, 38, Sani Rai, 17, Tara Pokhrel, 30, Rupa Pokhrel, 31, Anu Pokhrel, 11, Anita Pokhrel, 7, Sandesh Pokhrel, 15, Lalu Pokhrel, 8, and Ramesh Pokhrel of Lalbandhi-2 are undergoing treatment at Bharatpur Hospital.
The pick-up van (Ko 1Cha 3035) was carrying pilgrims and heading towards Lalbandhi when it collided with a tractor (Na 2 Ta 5733) parked on the roadside. The passengers were returning to Lalbandhi through Bardibas after visiting Maisthan Temple in Sindhuli.
The driver of the van, Deepak Rayamajhi, is in the custody of Area Police Office, Keshargunj. According to the police, he has admitted that he was driving at high speed and was carrying passengers double the van´s capacity.
