Similarly, Pawan Rai, 10, and Dipson Rai, 7, were injured in the incident. The NHRC issued a statement on Friday and said that the Koshi Provincial Office has started monitoring the incident.
The NHRC has suspected that the explosion may have been caused by the explosive material left haphazardly by the conflicting parties during the Maoist violence. The NHRC has repeatedly recommended the removal of such explosives and sharing of information with the NHRC about the progress in this regard.
The NHRC has also demanded an impartial investigation into the incident to take action against the culprits, arrange free and effective treatment for the injured, and provide compensation for the families of the injured and deceased.
Similarly, the NHRC has directed the government to defuse such explosives left at random locations and to implement measures to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
