KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has strongly urged the authorities to conduct a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the incident involving human rights activist and journalist Manohar Pokharel. The NHRC's statement, released on Tuesday, emphasizes the need for immediate legal measures against those responsible for the incident.


Manohar Pokharel, an advocate for human rights and a journalist, reportedly faced physical assault and mistreatment during a visit to the district police office. The incident has elicited significant concern from local journalists and various social organizations, prompting heightened awareness from the NHRC.

The Commission's statement underlines the gravity of the situation, stating, "The assault on Manohar Pokharel, who was fulfilling a specific assignment at the district police office, allegedly by police personnel, has raised serious concerns within the National Human Rights Commission."
