KANCHANPUR, Sept 5: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has pledged a thorough investigation into the Nirmala Pant rape and murder case.
Speaking at a press conference organized by the Press Union Kanchanpur in Mahendranagar on Thursday, he said, “I am taking this case very seriously; it will be investigated in a detailed manner.”
A 13-year-old Nirmala Pant from Ultakham, Bhimdatt Municipality-2 in Kanchanpur, was raped and murdered on July 26, 2018.

On the occasion, Minister Lekhak also mentioned plans to develop Dodhara Chandani in Kanchanpur as the country’s largest border crossing.
“The process to make Kanchanpur a trilateral border crossing is already underway,” he said, “A decision has also been made to establish an immigration office in Tinkar, Darchula, which will connect with China.
Minister Lekhak also stated that India is ready to construct a dry port in Dodhara Chandani.
Minister Lekhak also urged everyone not to doubt the implementation of the seven-point agreement between the Nepali Congress and the UML. He further said that this alliance will continue until the next election.
During his three-day visit to his home district, Minister Lekhak inaugurated two police buildings in Kanchanpur and inspected the flood affected sites.
