KATHMANDU, July 14: The deputy prime minister and home minister of the caretaker government, Rabi Lamichhane, conducted a press conference at the Ministry on Sunday claiming the investigation into the Nirmala Panta rape and murder case has reached its conclusion.
Similarly, he claimed that he had not violated any Nepal Police regulations. Although serving as the home minister, he never directed the security agencies to refrain from inspecting or investigating him, he claimed. He said that no one should be protected or defended from facing consequences for their wrongdoings. He also urged the Nepal Police to investigate him, if necessary.
Nirmala murder case remains a mystery even after five years
He said he neither transferred nor promoted or demoted anyone from their positions.
He said he had no objection to making public the report of the investigation into the recent gold smuggling cases but it was not made public keeping in mind the privacy of the state security agencies.
