Two children of same family killed in grenade explosion in Panchthar

PANCHTHAR, Aug 30: Two children from the same family died and two others were injured following a grenade explosion in Panchthar district.

According to the District Police Office, Panchthar, the accident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Phalelung Rural Municipality, Dandagaun, in the district.

According to Binalal Sah, the spokesperson and information officer of the Panchthar police, a bomb exploded at the house of Aitaraj Kerung at around 3:30 PM on Thursday. Dilip's family had been staying at Kerung's house.

Police said that four children were affected by the explosion of a suspicious object.

The deceased have been identified as 2-year-old Prinsa and 11-year-old Dipson, children of Dilip Sanwa.

Prince died this morning on the way to the hospital for treatment, while Dipson passed away in Ilam itself.

In the explosion, his four children were injured. Among them, Prinsa and Dipson died, while their 9-year-old son Pawan and another child are in stable condition.

Preliminary investigation has confirmed that the exploded object was a hand grenade. Another object resembling a bomb was also found near the explosion site.

Police have stated that the explosion occurred after the army team arrived and that a detailed investigation regarding the suspicious object is ongoing.
