Supreme Court demands explanation: Why should Rabi Lamichhane's passport dispute go unpunished?

KATHMANDU, April 5: The Supreme Court has sought clarification from the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) for deciding to file a case against the chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane.


Responding to a writ petition filed against the OAG, a single bench of Justice Harip Prasad Phuyal issued a show cause order on Wednesday.

On Monday, Yuvraj Paudel had filed a writ petition at the SC against the decision of Attorney General Dinmani Pokharel saying that he refused to take legal action in a case against Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of RSP, for misuse of passport.


Although the initial date of hearing was set for Tuesday, Justice Anil Kumar Sinha was unable to preside on the bench in this case and a single bench of Justice Hari Prasad Phuyal issued a show cause order on Wednesday.
