RAUTAHAT, June 18: Farmers from Rautahat blocked the East-West Highway on Saturday demanding payment of sugarcane.





Farmers blocked the highway from 1 to 2 pm asking their due payment worth around Rs 900 million of last three fiscal years from Sree Ram Sugar Mills, Garauda.

Hundreds of farmers led by Ashok Prasad Yadav of Sugarcane Producer Association, Rautahat, went through the Chandrapur market chanting the slogans before blocking the highway.




Lack of positive responses from the concerned bodies despite blocking of sub highway that links the district headquarter saw farmers obstructing the East Highway, according to Yadav.
