Gurung moves on top
KATHMANDU: Tham Gurung of the host Gurung Bamboo Archery Club moved on the top of the leaders´ board on Tuesday after the completion of the second day of the Second Gurung Bamboo Open Archery Tournament. Tham Gurung, who scored three points on Monday, added four points on Tuesday to take his total to seven points. Govinda Chhantyal of Nepal Chhantyal Association has six points in total.
Chhantyal, who scored just a point on Monday, added five points on Tuesday. Norbu Gurung of Manang Marshyangdi Archery Club and Sher Bahadur Pun of Myagdi Magar Society have equal five points in total. Gurung had scored three points on Monday but Pun scored all the five points on Tuesday. Pun was adjudged archer of the day on Tuesday and received Rs 5,000.
Ladli Lions defeat Dare Devils
KATHMANDU: Ladli Lions defeated Dare Devils by 42 runs on Tuesday in the Shree Ridhi Sidhi Marwadi Champions League Inter Marwadi T-20 Cricket Tournament at Modern Indian School, Chovar and fixed the semifinal spot. Winning the toss, Ladli Lions opted to bat first and scored 177 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Sandeep Bhatera scored 46 runs off 49 balls while Surav Lanawat scored quick-fire 44 runs from 22 balls.
Purnendu Ghosh grabbed four wickets for Dare Devils. Chasing the total of 178 runs, Dare Devils could manage to score 135 runs losing all wickets in 18.4 overs. Sumit Sharma grabbed three wickets for the winning team. Purnendu Ghosh scored quick-fire 43 runs off 24 balls but it was not enough for victory.
Holder Gyanu Baba continues dominance
KATHMANDU: Defending champion Gyanu Baba Higher Secondary School continued its dominance in the Seventh Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament on Tuesday. Six-time winner Gyanu Baba registered twin wins in the match played at court of Dhorpatan Sports Training Center at New Bus Park, Balaju, to stay on top of the points table along with Nepal Police Club (NPC).
Gyanu Baba and NPC have equal 14 points. Gyanu Baba registered a comprehensive 25-4, 25-0, 25-2 win over Bijeshori and also saw off Chandeshwari Youth Club of Ramechhap 25-3, 25-22, 28-26 on Tuesday. In the other matches, Angel´s Heart and Chandeshori registered wins. Angel´s Heart had a hard-fought win over Tops Academy from Pokhara with a score of 25-23, 14-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10 while Chandeshori defeated Bijeshori 25-17, 25-22, 28-26.
