Unbeaten Gyanubaba made 33 points from 11 games after defeating New Diamond 25-14, 25-15, 25-17 in the last match of the fifth edition of the tournament. New Diamond finished second with 27 points while Fishtail with equal points had to settle for the third place because of lower average points. [break]
In another match of the day, Fishtail registered a 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 win over Workers Martyrs Memorial Club.
The top three teams bagged Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 cash prizes respectively. Pariksha Gurung of Gyanubaba was voted the best player by the viewers.
The award for best spiker, quick spiker, best server, best setter, best defender and best blocker went to Ramila Tandukar (New Diamond), Khushi Khadka (Gyanubaba), Smriti Gurung (Gyanubaba), Bina Moktan (New Diamond), Kamala Poudel (Fishtail) and Hom Kumari Pun (Gyanubaba) respectively. The award for best coach went to Kaushila Khatri of Gyanubaba.

KATHMANDU, June 5: Valley Public School advanced into the quarterfinals of the First Bagmati Inter-school Basketball Tournament in senior girls´ category with a tough 33-31 win over Daffodil on Saturday. Samikchhan Bista contributed 15 points for the winners.
Despite the loss, Daffodil also booked a quarterfinal berth as the runners-up of the group.
In the senior boys´ category, Unique, Mount Glory, Valley Public, Nerik, Manjugoksa, Golden Peak, Kathmandu Valley, HIMS, Kathmandu Xavier, Daffodil, Prithvi, Greenland TIA and Excelsior made it to the pre-quarterfinals.
