SPORTS BRIEFS: Gyanubaba continue winning streak

KATHMANDU, June 3: Defending champions Gyanubaba continued their winning streak to remain on top of the table in the Fifth Dhorpatan Blue Sky Cup Women´s Double League Volleyball Tournament as they registered a tough 25-22, 21-25, 25-20, 18-25, 15-10 victory over Fishtail on Thursday.



With the victory, Gyanubaba have 27 points from nine matches while Fishtail have 21 points from six wins and three defeats. [break]



In other matches of the day, New Diamond defeated Tops 25-23, 25-14, 25-22 and Angels´ Heart edged past Workers Martyrs Memorial Club (WMMC) 25-19, 25-16, 28-26. New Diamond are in second spot with 20 points while Tops are trailing behind with 18 points. Angels´ Heart and WMMC both have 14 points each.





Easy win for Valley Public



KATHMANDU, June 3: Senior girls´ team of Valley Public School registered an easy win of 35-6 over hosts Bagmati Modern School during the First Bagmati Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Thursday. Samichhan Bista contributed 26 points in Valley Public´s victory.



In other matches, Reliance defeated Oasis 20-10 while South Point had a narrow escape of 10-9 from Ganesh School.



In the senior boys´ category, HIMS, Excelsior, Unique, Manjugoksa, Daffodil and Golden Peak won their respective matches.





CCRC cricket from June 17



KATHMANDU, June 3: Capital College and Research Center (CCRC) announced on Thursday that it is organizing the fourth edition of the CCRC T20 Cricket Tournament from June 17.



Hari Chandra Lamichhane, principal and managing director of the college, informed that the winners of the league-cum-knockout tournament will get Rs 50,000 cash prize. The runners-up will get Rs 25,000 while the player-of-the-tournament will get Rs 10,000.



The tournament is being organized under the technical assistance of Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).



According to Lamichhane, the tie-sheet of the tournament will be drawn on June 15.
