Soldier succumbs to injuries from elephant attack in Chitwan

CHITWAN, Jan 16: A Nepali Army soldier has succumbed to his injuries from a wild elephant attack in the Chitwan National Park, Chitwan district. 


Gupta Bahadur Thapa, corporal of the Khadga Battalion of Nepali Army, was on patrol when a wild tusker named Dhruve attacked him around 6PM on Saturday, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.

The 35-year-old who was originally from Phimti Rural Municipality-4 in Baglung district was cycling when 'Dhruve' attacked him, said SSP Narahari Adhikari.


Critically injured in the incident, he was rushed to the Purano Medical College where he breathed his last during treatment.
