Shrestha, Rai reach final

KATHMANDU: Kabita Shrestha and Srijana Rai have reached the final of women´s 56-60 kg event in the First National Open ITF Taekwondo Championship being held in the capital.



Shrestha defeated Nilam Khadka on Wednesday to set up a final with Rai, who beat Malati Tamang in another semifinal.[break]



Likewise, Ramesh Shrestha and Prakash Thapa advanced to the final of men´s 51-55 kg event. In the men´s 41-45 kg section, Sujan Pulami Magar, Bikal Paudel, Sagar Shrestha and Sangam BK secured berths in the last four. Deepak Rana, Deepak Shrestha, Pukar KC and Duryodhan Gharti Magar entered the semifinals of men´s 46-50 kg weight category.



Sports events to celebrate Tourism Day



KATHMANDU: Mountain Sports Federation Nepal announced on Wednesday that it will organize various sports events to celebrate World Tourism Day, which falls on September 27.



According to the federation, it will organize inter-college sports climbing and rafting competitions in Balaju of Kathmandu on Thursday and an amateur golf tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club on Friday and Saturday.



 It will also organize the Himalayan Hills MTB Cross Country Cycling from Budhanilakantha to Chisapani in Kathmandu on Saturday. Also on Saturday, the federation will host the Rukum Open Triathlon in Rukum and the Fifth Women Bikers Championship Rally from Itahari to Bhedetar in Sunsari.
