KATHMANDU, June 14: Salikram Ghimire has been elected the Lumbini Province president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) through the party’s first provincial convention.
The election was held at the auditorium in Ghorahi, Dang, where a total of 542 votes were cast for the position of provincial president.

As none of the candidates secured the required 51 percent majority in the initial voting, a second round of voting was expected to take place.
However, Gopal Ghimire, who had secured the second-highest number of votes among the candidates, extended his support to Salikram Ghimire, leading to the latter’s election as the provincial president.
Of the total 542 votes cast, Salikram Ghimire had received 199 votes in the election.
