KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has appointed Joint Secretary Tulsi Bahadur Shrestha as the Chief District Officer of Lalitpur and SSP Shekhar Khanal as the Chief of Lalitpur Police Range.
According to the MoHA, Khanal, recognized as an honest police officer, has been selected for the role. Despite initial considerations to send either SSP Dinesh Acharya from CIB or Rajendra Bhatta from Traffic Police Division to Lalitpur, the MoHA opted for Khanal.

Khanal, known for his lack of involvement in controversies, is regarded as modest and classy. Bhupendra Khatri and Somendra Singh Rathore, his counterparts, are serving as the heads of Kathmandu Police Range and the crime investigation office, respectively.
The Lalitpur police range remained without a chief for a week following the incident that claimed two lives at Balkumari in Lalitpur last Friday. Khanal assumed the role a week after Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Siddhi Bikram Shah was transferred to the police headquarters.
