KATHMANDU, May 31: The Ridi-Tamghas road section has been closed for one month starting today.

The District Administration Office (DAO) in Gulmi issued a notice informing that the road will be closed from 10AM to 4PM and from 10PM to 4AM daily until June 30.

The DAO has advised travelers to use alternative routes during this period. This closure is to facilitate the tarring and upgrading work along the 25 km stretch from Ridi to Raja under the Madan Bhandari Highway.

Since mid-March, these sections of the road have been intermittently closed for tasks such as rock excavation and grade adjustments.

The 45-km stretch from Ridi to Tamghas is being widened to accommodate increased traffic as the old road has become too narrow. In the first phase, the 25 km section from Ridi to Raja will be upgraded and paved.

The road expansion project, which commenced on March 12, 2023, is scheduled for completion by March 9, 2026. The contract for the widening work has been signed at a cost of Rs 1.55 billion.
