CHITWAN, Jan 18: As the construction of the Narayanghat-Mugling road is incomplete, the road is said to be closed for one more month for the continuation of construction work. From December 20, for 30 days, from 11 AM to 3PM, the road was closed and the work was carried on. From January 19, the road will be closed for 30 more days from 12:00 noon to 4:00 PM.

The decision to close the road for one more month was taken by a meeting of the stakeholders held today at the District Administration Office. Chief District Officer (CDO) Ashman Tamang said that it had been decided to close the road for one more month.

According to Krishan Acharya, the information officer of the Narayanghat-Mugling road project, West Section-9 Narayanghat-Mugling, the work has been effective by stopping traffic.

Cutting walls of three out of the five bridges that are under construction has been completed. According to the earlier decision, the deadline to finish the construction work in 30 days has been reached today (January 18). On January 14 and January 15 due to Maghe Sankranti, traffic was not stopped, so the construction could not be completed within the said time.

Acharya said that it takes a week just to make the road to work. According to the head of the project, Kiran Karki, nine bridges have been built along with these bridges. Five bridges on that road had already been built. Five bridges are under construction. He said that since there are six houses on the foundation of a bridge, the work could not be started due to the lack of compensation funds. There is a provision to remove encroachers only by giving mandatory relief in the work done with the help of the World Bank.

There are 20 houses in the same place where there are other bridges. In order to remove them, relief of around 10 million should be given. The contract was awarded for 10.250 million to be completed in 33 months on March 23, 2020. The contractor company ANK Construction has been saying that the work has been interrupted since the day after the contract was signed. According to the first contract, the contract period ended on December 24. The construction company has requested one more year.

The width of that road is 9 to 11 meters, after the bridge became narrow, now the newly constructed bridge has been made 11 meters wider.
