KATHMANDU, Sept 25: Dr Mukul Dhakal, the former general secretary of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has claimed that the party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane is certain to go to jail.

Taking to social media on Wednesday, Dr Dhakal said, “The issue related to cooperatives is almost resolved and Lamichhane is certain to go to jail.”

Dr Dhakal has also expressed his comments on Lamichhane’s misappropriation of passport, stating, “Now, let’s talk about the evidence of passport misuse. Lamichhane, who obtained US citizenship on February 21, 2014, and a US passport on March 5, 2014, came to Nepal on a relation visa on June 5, 2014. On May 27, 2015, he obtained a Nepali passport using his old citizenship details.”

He further said, “Afterward, on May 18, 2018, he applied to renounce his US citizenship and passport at the embassy. It seems that from May 27, 2015, to May 18, 2018, he possessed passports from both Nepal and the US. If this dual passport issue is resolved, Rabi Lamichhane will be disqualified from ever participating in any election in Nepal.”
