KATHMANDU, Jan 29: CPN-UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that the outgoing Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane was sued in the citizenship case with the aim of bringing about changes to the current balance of power.

On Sunday, he clarified that Lamichhane's citizenship case will not change the balance of power. He said that the political mission will not be disturbed due to the questions raised by the court process and the problems will be resolved.
He said that in the past, many people living abroad with PR have automatically become Nepali citizens when they return to Nepal, but no one has raised the question.
Pokharel commented that the activities shown by the Supreme Court in the citizenship case of Lamichhane was “mysterious”. He said that it would be difficult to deal with cases of such nature in the court and the process would not move forward but some cases would be decided quickly and the court should give a reasonable answer to it.
