Province 1 Assembly rescheduled for February 21 as NCP's Oli faction obstructs assembly meeting on Sunday

BIRATNAGAR, Feb 7: The Oli-led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Sunday obstructed the provincial assembly of Province 1 in a move to block a discussion on the vote of no-confidence filed earlier against Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai at the Provincial Assembly.

BIRATNAGAR, Feb 7: The Oli-led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on Sunday obstructed the provincial assembly of Province 1 in a move to block a discussion on the vote of no-confidence filed earlier against Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai at the Provincial Assembly.


A meeting of the Provincial Assembly which began Sunday afternoon could not take place after provincial assembly lawmakers belonging to the Oli-led faction protested rising from their seats.



With the obstruction, Provincial Assembly Speaker Pradeep Kumar Bhandari rescheduled the meeting for February 21.

Immediately after the meeting began, lawmakers of the Oli-led faction protested against the participation of the 16 provincial assembly lawmakers belonging to the other faction of the party led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Madhav Kumar Nepal.



Earlier last month, the Oli-led faction had suspended 16 provincial lawmakers belonging to the Dahal-Nepal faction accusing them of working against party interests.
