MAHOTTARI, Feb 14: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha on Thursday claimed that political parties, after discussion with the president, will reach an understanding by this evening and that the date of new Constituent Assembly elections will be announced Friday.

“The meeting held in the morning between the president and the political parties has reached close to consensus,” said Shrestha while inaugurating an integrated services center in Bardibas. “The country will get an outlet through dialogue by this evening.” [break]

Shrestha also said the new elections will be held within May-end if the parties agree for that. He further said there had been an agreement during the talks in the morning to constitute a state governing council to ensure fair elections.
