BHADRAPUR (Jhapa), Feb 5: Leaders of different political parties active in Jhapa district have urged the government to announce the date for local polls. At an interaction program organized in Birtamod in the district today, the district-level leaders of different parties opined for forging political consensus for local polls.
Most of the speakers at the program voiced for addressing the demands of disgruntled parties for timely elections. They further added that the elections should be held in new set up as the local body restructuring commission has also submitted its report to the government for the same.
On the occasion, Nepali Congress district secretary Laxman Khadka said that the parties should be concentrated for local polls adding that it was the need of the hour.

Similarly, CPN (UML) district chair Chintan Pathak ruled out the relevance of the constitution amendment bill adding that all kinds of rights have been incorporated in the constitution.
Likewise, CPN (Maoist Centre) district In-charge Jhalak Singh Darlami opined for creating an environment conducive for elections after addressing the genuine demands of the agitating parties.
Also speaking at the program, Rastriya Prajatantra Party central committee member Bhakti Sitaula also focused on the local level polls.
Others speaking at the program were CPN (ML) district secretary Navraj Kharel, Sadbhawana Party chair Surya Narayan Ganesh, Tarai-Madhes Democratic party chair Tri Narayan Rajbanshi, Sanghiya Limbuwan Party Nepal central committee member Tek Bahadur Khajum and Sanghiya Limbuwan Forum Nepal chair Dhan Bahadur Pandhak.
