Political alliance promotes polarization: Nepal

LALITPUR, Aug 18: Senior leader of the CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said that his party is not in favour of any alliance since it increases political polarisation.



Addressing a party cadres´ gathering in Lalitpur on Saturday, leader Nepal claimed that UCPN (Maoist) has engaged in forming political alliance realizing the party´s ´weakening´ image.[break]



He accused the UCPN (Maoist) of raising the issues of ethnicity just to take the country towards another conflict and urged the political parties to be united by giving up their stances to protect national integrity and sovereignty.



The former prime minister said, "The incumbent government is willing to prolong the existing constitutional vacuum."



Also speaking at the programme, UML leader Siddhilal Singh underlined the need of strengthening the party.
