KATHMANDU, Nov 17: As many as seven persons were held on the charge of gambling in the capital.
A team of police personnel from the Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, caught them ‘red-handed’ from a Kuleshwar-based house belonging to Shiva Shrestha, on Monday evening.

Apil Raj Bohara, chief of Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati, said that they were held with Rs 238,850 in cash and checks worth Rs 794,870 of various banks while they were gambling.
Those arrested are Yadav Chaulagain from Kavre, Raju Poudel from Dhading, Rajeev Shrestha and Keshav Prasad Mudbhari from Chitwan, Shyam Tamang from Bara and Prem Badawal from Kailali.
Eleven bank check books and several decks of playing cards were seized from the arrestees, Bohara said. “We have launched an investigation against the arrestees under the Prevention and Control of Gambling Act,” Bohara said.
