Nepali, Indian, and Chinese citizens arrested for gambling, Rs 1.2 million seized

KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Seven people have been arrested from a gambling spot in Kathmandu, along with Rs 1.2 million in cash.

Seven people, including the main organizer, a Chinese national, have been arrested for gambling in Bauddha Tinchuli, Ward 6 of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

Among those arrested are Sonam Tamang, 24, from Amdo, China, currently residing in Bauddha; Jampa Khedup from India, living in Bauddha; Norbu Samden, 30 from China, residing in Tinchuli, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6; Dasang, 27, from China, residing in Bauddha; Chinese national Wei Chunlin, 45, from China, living in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-27; Tenzing Norbu Sherpa, 28 from Bauddha; and Lopsang Lama, 35, from Sindhupalchok's Panchpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality Ward 4, currently living in Bauddha.

They were arrested on Friday by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Investigation Office.

It was reported that Sonam Tamang operated a gaming zone on the second floor of Pushpa Lama's house in Bauddha, where gambling activities were taking place.

Based on the information received, they were arrested while gambling, said a police source.

He said that one fish shooting game device and Rs 1.2 million in cash were seized from the gambling location.
