Police apprehends ambulance driver for smuggling marijuana

DHANKUTA, Feb 25: Police have arrested a man on allegation of smuggling marijuana in an ambulance on Sunday.


Ambulance driver Jayadev Chel, 48, a local resident of Biratnagar-12, was nabbed after police recovered marijuana in the ambulance he drove.

The ambulance vehicle with registration number (Me 1 Cha 2032) was en route from Dhankuta to Dharan when the police found 52 kilograms of marijuana during a routine check.


The police had been monitoring the situation after receiving information that marijuana was being transported in an ambulance.


According to Dhankuta Police, further investigation is underway.
