PM hints at revoking fund distribution

KATHMANDU, June 15: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has hinted at revoking a government plan to distribute 720 million rupees. Scrapping the plan was recommended by Constituent Assembly members.



Nepal dropped the hint during a meeting with coalition partners on Tuesday, saying that the program has been publicly criticized. He also said there is a strong possibility of irregularities while distributing the funds in a short span of time.



The government wants to distribute the funds via the Local Development Ministry before the current fiscal year ends. The fiscal year ends in a month´s time.
