KATHMANDU, July 26: The Parliamentary Hearings Special Committee (PHSC) has prepared 20 questions to ask the chief justice nominee Deepak Raj Joshee during his hearing on Thursday. Joshee is scheduled to face parliamentary hearing at 1 pm at parliament secretariat, Singha Durbar.
The questions were prepared on the basis of the complaints received by the committee and media reports, informed committee member Parbat Gurung.
PHSC may endorse Joshee for CJ today
Lawmakers informed that the committee is likely to ask Joshi about his controversial decision in
the past ‘favoring the
land mafia’, giving impunity to individuals accused in tax fraud scam,
allowing foreign telecom investors to repatriate funds without paying taxes, and his ‘dubious’ academic credentials among other things.
The committee had received five complaints against him till Sunday. A complaint has also accused Joshee of dozing off during trials and chewing tobacco and about ‘the extravagant weddings’ of his son and daughter.
