KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Civil society activists have staged a protest demonstration against the government under the statue of Shukraraj Shastri, a martyr who attained martyrdom during his fight against the Rana Regime, in Teku, Kathmandu.
The participants lied on the ground in a symbolic protest against the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) on December 20 last year.
They are scheduled to hold similar protests at Sifal on January 31 and Shova Bhagwati later on February 2.
Shastri was one of the four martyrs including Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Ganga Lal Shrestha and Dashrath Chand who were executed by the Rana rulers back in the 1940s. He was hanged to death on a Khari tree in Teku in the capital.
