KATHMANDU, Nov 10: A writ petition has been filed at the Supreme Court (SC) by Aamir Akhtar on behalf of Zohra Sports Management, seeking an injunction to halt the Nepal Premier League (NPL). The petition was filed last Friday and has been placed before the bench of Justice Hari Phuyal.
The writ challenges the legitimacy of the NPL, claiming that the tournament is being held under a name already registered by Akhtar's company, Zohra Sports Management, for a 10-year period with the consent of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). Akhtar argued that the franchise granted to him cannot be operated by other companies and that the involvement of other entities violates the terms of the contract. He further contended that the actions of CAN, in allowing other companies to operate the franchise, are contrary to the provisions of the Contract Act, which he claimed has resulted in an injustice to him.
