Parliament committee directs govt to forward bill on disaster management

KATHMANDU, July 7: The State Affairs Committee of the Legislature Parliament has directed the government to immediately forward the bill relating to disaster management.

KATHMANDU, July 7: The State Affairs Committee of the Legislature Parliament has directed the government to immediately forward the bill relating to disaster management. 


The Committee meeting on Friday drew the attention of Home Minister Janardan Sharma that although efforts were made for long to bring the bill on disaster management, it was yet to be materialized.

Similarly, the government is asked to make effective the relief and rescue of the flood and landslide victims in various parts of the country. 


The Home Minister however said in the meeting that he would initiate the process very soon that the lawmakers would not get second time to complain the same. 


He also informed that the proposed bill on disaster management was forwarded to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs. Once it is approved from there, it would be forwarded to the parliament committee. 


Home Minister Sharma also said diplomatic efforts would be made to solve the problems of Saptari flooding due to construction of embankment by the Indian side along Nepal-India border. 


According to him, arrangements were made to provide relief and rescue within 10 minute of the disaster except the distance security persons need to negotiate. RSS
