KATHMANDU, July 22: The Panauti Municipality in Kavre district has agreed to provide 2,500 roapnis of land to the Nepal Army to run a Military Academy. The municipality made the decision to give the land of Indreshwor Thalpu Community Forest Area in ward no. 8 and 9, according to Senior Administrative Officer and Information Officer at the Panauti Municipality Indra Prasad Adhikari.
Adhikari said a meeting of the municipal executive held on July 14 took the decision based on the request received from the Kalijung Battalion of Nepal Army.

Further processes have been expedited by the municipality to implement the decision. All relevant documents along with the municipality's decisions have been sent to the District Administration Office, Kavrepalchowk, for further decision to provide land to the NA.
The municipality has also written to the Kalijung Battalion about its decision to provide the land. Based on the processes, the DAO should consult the Division Forest Office and local Community Forest Users' Committee and should go to the Ministry of Forest along with a Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Chief District Officer Humkala Pandey said, "Decision of the municipality has been received. We will make further coordination with the Ministry of Forest by holding consultations with all stakeholders concerned."
