KATHMANDU, Feb 20:  Nepali Congress (NC) has taken strong exception to the remarks of Prime Minister K P Oli that they will launch protests if the apex court passed a verdict on parliament dissolution 'against people and the country'.

Addressing mass gathering organized by his faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in Biratnagar on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli had warned that they will be forced to launch protest programs if the apex court passed verdict on the parliament dissolution case based on deception and the 'setting'.

"The remarks of Prime Minister Oli in Biratnagar that the court be not fallen under the influence of anyone but exert undue pressure on it [for favourable decision] is against the dignity of his position," he tweeted. "The Jange Shaili [ i.e. style of using force to dictate decisions] to never say that they accept the verdict of judiciary and issue undue threat instead cannot be considered democratic one."

On the same ocasion, Prime Minister Oli had said that it is beyond their imagination that the apex court would pass verdict to reinstate the parlaiment against the interests of people and the country as a whole. "We cannot even imagine that the Supreme Court will pass verdict otherwise under any pressure," he had said, while threatening to launch fresh protest if verdict is made against people and the country under any setting.

The prime minister had also vowed to crush all forces exerting undue pressure on the apex court to reinstate the dissolved lower house of the federal parliament.
