BARDIYA, Sept 19: The number of people developing their passports has increased sharply in Bardia.

A total of 9,594 have already developed their passports so far in the past five months. Of them 5,214 acquired their passport from Bardia and the remaining from Kathmandu.

The number of women seeking their passport was 258 from the local DAO and 452 from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the capital.

In the previous year, only 3,602 people in the district had developed their passport. The rise in the number is attributed to youths flying out for foreign employment.

Majority of those acquiring their passport are between 18 to 35 years of age, according to Chief District Officer Binod Bahadur Kunwar. RSS
