KATHMANDU, Oct 21: The government has revoked the licenses of two internet service providers (ISPs). The regulatory authority, Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), has canceled the licenses of C Data Communication in Birgunj and Life Net in Surkhet.

The NTA revoked the license of C Data Communication for not operating services as per the terms, effective from October 18. C Data Communication had received its internet service operating license from the NTA on February 2, 2020.

Similarly, the NTA revoked the license of Life Net for failing to initiate any renewal process. Life Net had received permission from the NTA to operate internet services on September 16, 2019.

Although the license was valid until September 14, 2024, the NTA took action because the company did not even submit an application for the renewal of the permit.

The NTA has also directed the company that it must submit the required payments within the next 30 days as per the regulations.
