NPL: Lumbini Lions register their first victory, beat Chitwan Rhinos

Earlier, Lumbini, batting first, scored 167 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Rohit Paudel scored  80 runs off 57 balls while Saad Bin Zafar remained not out at 52 runs.

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Lumbini Lions have registered their first victory in the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL). They defeated Chitwan Rhinos in a match at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground, Kirtipur, on Tuesday.


Lumbini Lions defeated Chitwan Rhinos by 33 runs in Tuesday’s match. This was their fifth match which marked Chitwan’s second loss in the tournament.


Chitwan managed to score only 134 runs after losing 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, while chasing the target of 168 runs set by Lumbini Lions. Luc Benkenstein scored 31 runs for Lumbini Lions. Captain Kushal Malla added 20 runs while Nar Sarki remained not out for 22 runs.

For Lumbini Lions, Captain Rohit Paudel took 4 wickets for 17 runs in his spell. Ramon Simmonds claimed 2 wickets, while Saad Bin Zafar and Avinash Gautam each took 1 wicket.

Rijan Dhakal took 3 wickets in his spell for 29 runs. Kushal Malla and Ranjit Kumar claimed one wicket each.


Even after the win, Lumbini, who are at the bottom of the table, have only 2 points. Chitwan is in third place on the table with 6 points.
