KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Prime Minister Balen Shah has returned to Nepal after attending the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Shah left for the United States on Tuesday evening to attend the General Assembly and addressed the UN body on September 24.

During his visit, Shah held meetings with representatives of various countries and members of the international community.
In his address to the UNGA, Prime Minister Shah outlined Nepal’s priorities and emphasized the importance of international cooperation. He cited the recent Bhotekoshi–Trishuli floods in Nepal as an example of the growing crises caused by climate change.
Drawing attention to the increasing risks facing the Himalayan region, Shah said countries such as Nepal, which have contributed little to the climate crisis, are bearing a disproportionate share of its consequences.
Arguing that climate change does not recognize international border, Prime Minister Shah noted that the risks posed by melting glaciers, landslides and floods extend beyond Nepal to neighboring China and India.
Shah also argued that climate justice should go beyond financial assistance. He called for the voices of Himalayan communities, small island nations, landlocked and least developed countries, and future generations to be given equal weight in international decision-making.
