DHARAN, Aug 10: Nine individuals including four Indian Army men tested positive for the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Dharan on Monday.
These new cases were detected in the course of conducting Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests of swab samples collected at a quarantine facility in Dharan-17.
The Indian soldiers diagnosed with the virus were on their vacation. As they had returned home from India, they were staying at a quarantine facility.
Trace and test
Similarly, two of the individuals who contracted the virus had recently returned from the United Arab Emirates.
Likewise, three other new cases were detected at community level. Two girls, 16 and 20 years old from Dharan-10, and a man, 40, from Dharan-19 tested positive for COVID-19.
The infected have been directed to stay home and undergo treatment in isolation due to the lack of isolation beds at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.
So far, 55 people have contracted the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Dharan.
