NFS to honor Chaitya Devi, Madan Krishna

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Newa Film Society (NFS) has announced that veteran actors Chaitya Devi Singh and Madan Krishna Shrestha will be honored at Nepal Bhasa Film festival amid an event on  October 15.

KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Newa Film Society (NFS) has announced that veteran actors Chaitya Devi Singh and Madan Krishna Shrestha will be honored at Nepal Bhasa Film festival amid an event on October 15.


According to the press statement released by NFS, the organization has chosen Chaitya Devi because of her contribution to the Nepali film industry as she is the one who acted in films like ‘Aama’ and played the lead role in Nepal’s first color film ‘Kumari’.

It added that Madan Krishna was chosen for his contribution in Nepali language, literature, drama, music and film. According to Birendra Bajracharya, one of the organizers of the festival, both of them will be facilitated with trophies and certificates. Moreover, the trophy is shaped as the chariot of Machhendranath to reflect the identity of Nepali society and traditions, according to the NFS. 


The press statement added the two day film festival will be held at Nepal tourism Board, Bhrikutimandap. As many as nine films will be showcased during the festival. Nepal Bhasa film 'Pankha' that won the Future of Asia award in Japan will also be screened. 


The festival is scheduled on October 27 and 28.
