KATHMANDU, July 14: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said that the new federal republic constitution would unite people from different communities and religions.

At a program organized by the Bhanu Foundation on the occasion of the 202nd birth anniversary of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya here Tuesday, Prime Minister Koirala said Bhanubhakta's contribution to linguistic and cultural unity through the medium of literary creation was inspirational.


PM Koirala said, "Bhanubhakta was a poet who wrote on social themes and always gave priority to social unity and harmony in his creations."

He expressed commitment to lend his support to provide one ropani land to the Foundation for the construction of its building which the Foundation has been demanding as a respect of contribution of Adikavi for the unity of Nepali society.

On the occasion, PM Koirala, on the behalf of the Foundation, honored litterateur duo-- Chudamani Regmi and Tejeshwor Babu Gong by offering shawl and letter of appreciation for their remarkable contribution to the Nepali language and culture.

The Foundation organized a chariot procession in honor of Regmi and Gong which went through different parts of the city.

Similarly, Foundation Chairman Prof Dr Brataraj Acharya said that task regarding construction of a statue of Bhanubhakta has been forwarded at different parts in and out of the country to make the Bhanubhakta's contribution immortal.

The Foundation has been organizing different programs including a morning rally on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti since 2033 BS, he added.

Likewise, Rastrakavi Madhav Prasad Ghimire said that Bhanubhakat's vision of the nation expressed through his literary creations at that time are still significant in the present.

Ghimire expressed the belief that the new constitution going to be promulgated soon would be very useful for the nation's welfare.

Chancellor at the Nepal Academy, Ganga Prasad Upreti, said Bhanubhakta's contribution to linguistic and cultural unity and Prithvi Narayan Shah's contribution to geographical and political unity was important.

Chancellor Upreti stressed the need of giving continuity to public holiday on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti and Prithvi Jayanti as the trend of awarding holiday on these occasions was obstructed due to ongoing transition of the country.

Litterateur Gong said that the government should give priority for the overall development of Nepali literature.

Similarly, General Secretary at the Foundation, DP Aryal, said that the Foundation has been continuously engaged to making the contribution of Bhanubhakta immortal and to the development of Nepali literature.

On the occasion, litterateurs-- Nabaraj Lamsal, Bunu Lamichhane, Dibas Thakuri, among others, recited Bhanubhakta's poems and schools participated in the morning rally organized on the occasion of Bhanu Jayanti were honored.
