KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday nosedived 29.81 points to close at 1,960.78 points.
The secondary market opened at 1,990.59 points and went into a straight fall throughout the trading hours. The index plunged to the day’s low at 1,959.31 points in the last seven minutes, while the market recovered slightly before it closed for the day.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also fell 5.09 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 1.186 billion from Rs 1.13 billion Wednesday, the last trading day.
All the 13 groups lost their market values in the intraday trading. Life insurance, non-life insurance, and hotels and tourism lost three digit points.
Among individual companies, the market values of 212 companies declined, while only eight had their share prices increased.
Soaltee Hotel Limited, with a turnover of Rs 38.88 million, topped in terms of transaction volume. Liberty Energy Company Limited lost the highest of 10 percent of its market price. Three Start Hydropower Limited, adding 10 percent to its market value, was the largest gainer.
