NEPSE inches up 3.93 points, daily turnover falls to Rs 3.89 billion

KATHMANDU, May 27: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday increased marginally by 3.93 points to close at 2,113.27 points.

The market opened at 2,109.34 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,097.58 points in the first half an hour. The index then increased successively to reach the day’s high at 2,124.5 points in the next two hours. The market then went downward and shed around 11 points before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also decreased by 0.30 points. The daily turnover fell to Rs 3.89 billion from Rs 4.44 billion on Sunday.  

Out of the three losing groups, hotels and tourism declined by the largest of 26.72 points, followed by non-life insurance and banking. Out of the 10 gainers, manufacturing and processing added the highest of 50.72 points. 

Among individual companies, 149 were recorded as gainers whereas 90 were the losers.

NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 204.04 million. Muktinath Krishi Company Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer, while Buddha Bhumi Nepal Hydropower Company Limited was the topmost loser.
