NEPSE gains 8.90 points; daily turnover rises to Rs 5.49 billion

KATHMANDU, June 10: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday rose 8.90 points to close at 2,073.19 points.


The market opened at 2,073.19 points and reached the day’s high at 2,089.16 points in just a few minutes of the commencement of trading. In the next moment, the index plugged to the day's low at 2,072.25 points. The market recovered around 15 points at the midway of the trading hours. In the remaining period, the index again declined around 14 points before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies added 0.86 points. The daily turnover rose to Rs 5.49 billion from Rs 5.18 billion on Sunday.


Out of the seven gainers, non-life insurance added the highest of 134.88 points. Hydropower and microfinance were among the other major gainers. Trading with a drop of 61.10 points topped the losing groups, which was followed by hotels and tourism, and life insurance.


Among individual companies, 176 were recorded as gainers whereas 61 were the losers.


NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 418.76 million. Kutheli Bukhari Small Hydropower Limited was the topmost gainer, while Janaki Finance Company Limited lost the highest of 8.67 percent of its market value.
