KATHMANDU, Jan 28: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday surged 24.50 points to close at 2,657.77 points, while the daily turnover soared to Rs 9.40 billion.
The secondary market opened at 2,633.27 points and jumped by 19 points, followed by a decline of 15 points within the first one hour. In the remaining trading hours, the market index grew gradually to recover around 20 points before the market closed for the day.
Nepse up for a fifth consecutive week
All the 13 groups were the gainers, while the development bank index jumped 229.78 points, the largest of all.
The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies inclined 3.19 points. Daily turnover increased by Rs 480 million compared to the transaction of Monday.
Among the individual companies, 177 were gainers while 60 were registered as losers. Saptakoshi Development Bank had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 382.13 million.
Four companies--Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Sikles Hydropower Limited, Three Star Hydropower Limited and Janaki Finance Company Limited—were the topmost gainers. Dolti Power Company Limited lost the highest of 8.43 percent of its market values.
