Daily turnover soars to Rs 9.27 billion despite NEPSE index falling 10.41 points

Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday declined 10.41 points to close at 2,643.93 points, while the daily turnover increased to Rs 9.27 billion.

KATHMANDU, Jan 26: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday declined 10.41 points to close at 2,643.93 points, while the daily turnover increased to Rs 9.27 billion.


The secondary market opened at 2,654.35 points and hit the day’s high at 2,662.36 points in the first 27 minutes. The index however declined and reached the day’s low at 2,640.52 points with the last 40 minutes of trading left. In the remaining period, the market recovered around three points before it closed for the day. 


Five groups were the gainers, with microfinance adding the largest of 36.82 points in its market value. Of the eight losers, the finance index declined the largest of 122.11 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies declined 3.20 points. The daily turnover surged to Rs 9.12 billion on Sunday compared to Rs 7.85 billion on the last trading day of the previous week..


Among individual companies, 116 were gainers while 121 were registered as losers. Saptakoshi Development Bank had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 395.37 million.


Four companies—Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) Limited, NIC Asia Debenture 082/83, Dolti Power Company and Janaki Finance Company--lost the highest of 10 percent of their market values. On the other hand, two companies including Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Mathillo Mailun Khola Jalvidhyut Limited were the topmost gainers.
