KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 6.16 points to close at 2,646.84 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,640.68 points and rose to the day’s high at 2,656.01 points during the first one hour of trading. In the next two hours, the index dropped to as low as 2,625.73 points, while the market recovered around 21 points in the remaining trading time before it closed for the day.
Nepse gains 32 points to reclaim 2,600 territory
The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, also increased 0.89 points after the blue chips companies attracted investors. Banking index however shedded 3.02 points. Daily turnover declined to Rs 5.38 billion from Rs 6.30 billion on Monday.
Four groups lost in their market values as manufacturing and processing shed the largest of 17.50 points. While the investment index remained stable in the intraday trading, life insurance out of eight gainers added the largest of 85.92 points.
Regarding the individual companies, 125 were gainers while 108 were registered as losers. Sindhu Bikash Bank had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 169.29 million.
Saptakoshi Development Bank and Nyadi Hydropower Limited were the topmost gainers. Aatmanirbhar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited and Dolti Power Company lost the highest of 10 percent of their market values.
