NEPSE falls 11.49 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 8.39 billion

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Sunday slid 11.49 points to close at 2,688.31 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,699.81 points, spiked up to the day’s high at 2,725.96 points within the first half an hour. However, the market dropped around 27 points in the next half an hour. The market then remained almost stable for next two hours before it plunged to the day’s high at 2,684.41 points in the last two minutes before the market closed for the day.  


Finance index surged by the largest of 21.85 points, while other three groups including microfinance, manufacturing and processing, and trading were listed as gainers. Of the nine losers, life insurance shed the largest of 100.17 points.

The sensitive index which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies also declined 2.25 points. Daily turnover declined to Rs 8.39 billion from Rs 9.24 billion on Thursday.


Among the individual companies, 70 were gainers while 167 were registered as losers. NRN Infrastructure and Development Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 311.68 million.


Saptakoshi Development Bank lost the largest of 6.52 percent of its market price. Central Finance Co Ltd and Guardian Micro Life Insurance Limited were recorded as the topmost gainers.
