Nepse escalates 43.27 points; daily turnover declines to Rs 934.89 million on Wednesday

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Wednesday escalated 43.27 points after a number of banks reported to have started reducing their interest rates.


The secondary market opened at 1,864.62 points and closed at 1,907.89 points. The market took an upward graph since the commencement of trading for the day. The market reached the day’s high at 1,908.4 points. In the last 20 minutes, the index slid by around one point.  


The sensitive index that measures the performance of blue chip companies also increased 8.14 points. Despite a whopping surge in the market index, the daily turnover declined to Rs 934.89 million from Rs 1.008 billion on Tuesday.

All the 13 trading groups posted green revealing an increase in their market values. Non-life insurance hit the largest of 274.84 points gain, which was followed by life insurance which added 221.61 points and hotels and tourism with 102.55 points.


Among individual companies, the market values of 223 companies inclined, while 10 companies posted losses in their indices.


Sanima GIC Insurance Limited had trading of its shares worth Rs 44.604 million and stood on top of the transaction volume list. Asha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha stood as the biggest gainer with a 10 percent hike in its market price. BPW Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha lost the highest of 4.62 percent of its market price.
